Downloading and Installing
You can get the latest version of Apple's Xcode from the Mac App Store.
Versions of Xcode are closely tied to versions of the macOS operating system,
so you'll want to make sure that your computer is fully updated before attempting to download and install Xcode from the App Store.

If you're working on a Mac that can't be updated to the latest version of macOS,
or if you don't want to update to the latest version,
previous versions of Xcode can be downloaded from the Apple Developer site (you'll need to sign in using your Apple ID).
Always try to get the most recent version of Xcode that will work with your version of macOS.
This may require some additional research,
or you may need to try a few versions before finding one that can be installed successfully,
as the Downloads page does not make clear which versions of Xcode are intended for which versions of macOS.
